Project 3 Activity: Photography
Process:
This project was much more difficult than I expected it to be. I had a difficult time finding good light inside and outside. It was a mostly cloudy day both yesterday and today, so I drove around a lot trying to find good places to take pictures. I am pleased with how my outside photographs turning out, but not really with the inside ones. The first picture was taken outside trying to get as much light as well as good composition as was possible. The second one is my adorable nephew. I tried to utilize the light from outside, as well as from an indoor lamp.
The third and fourth pictures are supposed to be examples of focusing on the foreground and the background, however, my camera really didn’t want to make anything blurry. Most of the time, I am sure that is a great thing for a camera to do, but for this project it was very frustrating. I need to study my whole camera manual sometime soon, and then hopefully I will be able to make it do this. If you look very closely, you can see that in the second focus picture the pottery in the background is in focus, when it isn’t in the first. That was the most I could get out of my camera.
The last two photos are my favorite from this project. I found out that my camera has the option to display the lines of thirds when you take a picture. I used it to help me line up the church, as well as the mountain in the background, I am pleased with how that picture turned out. The final picture took quite a bit of determination. I followed around my parents dog and took pictures until I felt that I had one that was a good example of lead room. The final picture would have been better if it was greener outside, but obviously that wasn’t possible since it is still technically winter.
After I took all of the pictures, I moved them to my computer. I then opened them in Photoshop, and did four basic adjustments to them: Levels, Vibrance, Selective Color, and Sharpen. It was fun to use Photoshop, and play with the different adjustments. I am glad that I learned some new things from this project and hope to be able to continue to develop my photography, Photoshop skills in the future.
